Russell K. Osgood is the senior partner in Osgood and Osgood, LLC.
Russell graduated from the University of Michigan Law School in 1962 and joined what is now the City of Boulder’s third oldest law firm. His practice has always emphasized real estate, primarily in the areas of commercial sales and purchases, leasing, foreclosures, boundary line/easement disputes and IRC Sec. 1031 tax-deferred exchanges. In the last 20 to 25 years his practice has expanded to where 50 percent or more of his time is related to tax and estate planning, wills, trusts and probate.
Russell has been certified as an Accredited Estate Planner by the National Association of Estate Planning Councils. He is a member of the American Bar Association, including the Real Property, Probate and Trust Law Sectionand the insurance sub-committees. His membership in the Colorado Bar Association includes membership in the Real Estate Law Section and the Trust and Estate Section. In the Boulder County Bar Association, Russell is a member and past chairman of the Tax and Estate Planning Section. He is also a member of the Real Estate Section and of the special committee on special problems of conservatorships. Russell was certified as an Accredited Estate Planner in 1995 and is a member of the National Association of Estate Planners and Councils as well as a past president of the Boulder County Estate Planning Council.

Real Property, Business, Estate Planning, and Probate

Scott R. Osgood grew up in Boulder County, and has practiced law in Boulder since 1984. Scott’s practice is primarily focused on real estate, business, estate planning and probate. His broad real estate background includes the negotiation, purchase, sale, construction, leasing, and financing of residential, retail, commercial, and industrial properties, and ranges from landlord-tenant disputes and first-time home buyers to complex high-dollar commercial transactions and 1031 exchanges. He is a past co-chair of the Boulder County Real Estate Section.
Scott’s business practice includes the formation of small business entities, purchases and sales of businesses, and general small business representation. He acts as the escrow agent and closer of a number of business sales each year. He has assisted in the formation of numerous non-profit corporations, and helped them to achieve tax-exempt status. Scott’s estate planning and probate practice includes wills, trusts, general durable powers of attorney, living wills and medical powers of attorney, as well as the administration of estates, and guardianships and conservatorships.
Scott graduated with a degree in journalism from the University of Missouri, and obtained his Juris Doctor from the University of Denver School of Law. He spent several years coaching youth teams in soccer, football, basketball, and especially baseball. He is actively involved in Optimist International, a service organization focusing on hands-on projects to benefit youth in the community. In addition to participating in club and district projects, he has held several offices in his local club, including President, and has served as a Lieutenant Governor of the Colorado-Wyoming district of Optimist International. He is currently a member the district committee overseeing the Brain Bowl, a general knowledge competition for middle schoolers. When not in the office or involved in volunteer activities, Scott enjoys spending time with his wife and two grown children, and playing tennis, reading, and travel.
